Throughout South Australia’s history, rail transport has been a symbol of connection, expansion and progress. Today, rail in SA still serves as an important link allowing SA to effectively and efficiently export and import bulk commodities around Australia and overseas and allowing passengers to travel with ease in suburban areas.
The SA rail network includes two main interstate lines running east-west and north-south. These lines are the main connectors to domestic and international markets.
